Race Talk: Dell does it again
Comment | Author: glenn watson | Mar 10, 2012
THE TRACKMAN
Apprentice Chris Dell's dream carnival continued today when he urged Demphon to victory in race two at Ellerslie today.
It was the tall 19-year-old's fourth winner during Cup Week.
"It's a fairytale," said Dell, who was planning to study journalism before deciding to give race riding a decent crack.
Dell said Demophon was always travelling well today, "probably too well". They held out Sweet Suitor, a runaway winner on Wednesday.
Trainer John Sargent said the dead footing suited Demophon down to the ground.
Jeff Lynds has had his maturity issues with California - a five year old with only nine starts - but he's rolling along nicely now. The gelding scurried along the rails for victory in the first with Jonathan Riddell aboard.
